Sorry! From The Diary of a Former Slave

So Sorry!

So Sorry!

“Hey guys, do you want to see the letter I received today?” The mail has not been too regular out here in the desert. We move around too much.

“Dear Ploni;

I am one of your former Egyptian masters. I’m sure you remember me. As you know, I have nothing left. The plagues attacked my body, my children, my property, and my animals. I joined everyone in pushing you out the door and out of Egypt.

We all acknowledged God and Moses before we chased you from our country. God gave us a thorough lesson in all we did to you by doing the same things to us with the plagues.

The country is devastated. We have no army; they were wiped out at the sea. The government no longer exists. We have no idea what happened to Pharaoh.

I am sorry that I ever listened to him. I am sorry that I did not heed Moses’ warnings. I am sorry that I allowed my sons to join Pharaoh in racing to the sea. I am sorry most of all for never having said, “I’m sorry” to you before you left.

I cannot ask for forgiveness, but I can apologize. I’m sorry.”

The signature is illegible, but I suspect that it is from my direct supervisor on Pyramid 3. He was not the nicest man, but he was also not as bad as some others.

So, what do you think? Shall I respond? What should I say?
