Prayer Tools-Hachodesh-Slonim-The First of the Day

The 28th of Adar is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Mordechai Kastelanitz of Lecovitz, the father of the Slonim Chassidic dynasty, immigrated to Chevron in 1844. The Torah begins with the word, “Bereishit,” which may be translated, “for the sake of the first,” the Lord has created the world. All that the Creator demands is that a man make a beginning in the right direction; thereafter He will aid him to continue in the right path.

To symbolize this He ordained that we should devote to the Lord, the First Fruits; the first stalks of grain; the first-born cattle; the Chadash-the New, and the Law of Tradition commands us to devote the first part of every day to prayer. (Ohr Yesharim, page 14)
