The 24th of Adar is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Yitzchak Meyer of Alesk: The Belzer said: we find in the Talmud (Berachot 7a) the expression, “The Holy One, Blessed is He, prays, ‘ May It come to pass that My compassion overcome My anger, so that I may redeem My people.’

This means that God prays, “May it come to pass that Israel make use of his free choice to return to Me. Thereby, he will cause My Attribute of Compassion to triumph over My Attribute of Impartial Justice, and allow Me to redeem him.” (Dover Shalom, page 100)
