Parsha Mitzvot: Vayikra: Mitzvah 121 – Concept 434



“But if his means are insufficient for a sheep or goat, the he shall bring as his guilt offering for that which he sinned; two turtledoves or two young doves to God, one for a sin offering and one for an elevation offering.” “But if his means are insufficient for two turtledoves or for two young doves, then he shall bring, as his guilt offering for that which he sinned, a tenth-ephah of fine flour for a sin offering, he shall not place oil on it nor shall he put frankincense on it, for it is a sin offering.” Leviticus 5:7 & 11)  Bring the Oleh V’Yored Offering, if the person is wealthy, an animal, if poor, a bird or meal offering, for the prescribed sins. “His offering that he sinned,” means: The expression of nearness of God, (Korban – To Bring Close) which he has thrown away lightly because of his sin. (Rabbi Samson R Hirsch)
