Mishlei Tools: Torah Study As Prayer

“If one turns aside his ear from hearing the Torah, his prayer, too, will be considered an abomination (Proverbs 28:9).” This verse is an effective tool to use before studying Torah: is a reminder that we must listen to the Torah we study, hear its message, and absorbed its lessons, so that our prayers will become more effective. When we recite this verse before our Torah study, we are transforming our Torah study into a form of prayer as well.
