Tehillim Tools: Psalm 86:2: Help Us Pray

“Preserve my soul for I am devoted, deliver Your servant, my God, who trusts in You.” When we ask God to, “preserve my soul,” we are asking Him to preserve and protect our prayers so that they become the prayer of, “for I am devoted,” a ‘Chassid,’, a pious one. We are asking God to, “deliver Your servant,” meaning, to deliver our prayer because, we are among those, “who trust in You,” to receive, consider, and honor our prayers. (Tiferet Banim; Matot)

This verse should be used as a preparation for prayer so that we can ask God for his help in presenting an effective prayer.
