Mishlei Tools: Becoming a Boteiach

“The wicked flee though none pursue, but the righteous are confident as a young lion (Proverbs 28:1).” This verse is teaching us that when we find we are constantly running away for fear, and discovering that, that which we fear is not really a threat, we are lacking in the attribute of trust. It is also teaching us that in order to become “confident as a young lion,” meaning one who trusts in God, we must first be righteous.

This is an excellent verse for someone who is working on becoming a Truster in God: He should recite this verse whenever he finds that he is hesitating to act because of an unknown fear.

Such a person must constantly remind himself to work on his righteousness.
