Amidah-The Joy of Repentance-Slonim

The 28th of Adar is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Mordechai Kastelanitz of Lecovitz, the father of the Slonim Chassidic dynasty: True repentance brings joy. If repentance is genuine, the person is joyful though contrite and humble. If it is insincere, the penitent is melancholy and irritable. He will repulse in anger as an intruder anyone who comes to speak with him. Sadness is more deserving of rebuke than serious transgression, since one forgets to regret it. (Ohr Yesharim, page 10)
