Shir Hashirim-Awakening Desire-Ramban

The 11th of Nisan is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Moshe ben Nachman, the Ramban: When the sages say that we do not know how to pray with God’s Specific Name, they are only speaking of prayers for the redemption. Israel is in exile, and the Divine Presence is with them, but they do not know how to awaken the love. The channels that arouse this love are now plugged up, since Israel is bound by an oath not to arouse God, as it is written, “I bind you to an oath, O daughters of Jerusalem, that you will not awaken it, until there be desire (Song of Songs 2:1).”

With regard to all other prayers, however, there is no question that they are answered. Prayer is what has allowed both ourselves and our ancestors to survive since the beginning of the exile (Ramban; HaEmunah v’Habitachon 5)
