Shemah: Rabbi Samson R Hirsch: Sharing Isaiah’s Vision

The 9th of Iyar is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Yitzchak Bernays (Barneis) (1792-1849), teacher of Rav Shamshon Rafael Hirsch. “Be blessed, O our Rock, our King and our Redeemer, Creator of holy beings; praised be Your Name forever, O our King, Shaper of ministering hosts.” The prophet Isaiah beheld Seraphim on high, round about the throne of God, waiting upon’s command, and heard from their mouths the proclamation of His Holiness.

We see the same vision before us when the rays of the morning sun once again permit us to behold the world and thus the full glory of God’s creation.

The ministering hosts which the Lord has created in His heavenly household that is the world, stand in exalted places and proclaim that all life and growth are derived from the creating and ruling Word of the Living God Who reigns supreme over the world.

They, as should we, sense that He loves them and that they are pure; they feel strength within themselves.

In humble reverence they carry out the will of their Owner, and they declare that obedience, praise, glorification and the acknowledgment of His might, holiness and dominion are all due to the Name of God, the great, mighty and awesome King which remains unattainable and ineffable in its sanctity.
