Seder Hallel: Sha’ar HaRachamim: Paragraph Three

“Not for us,” although we have described our ability to sing a Hallel that will connect all the way to the Ultimate Hallel, and we have described our ability to become active participants in creation, such is not for us at this time during exile. We can read this verse as saying, “Not for us, God,” meaning God is not empowering us yet at this point to achieve all of our potential. Therefore, the entire purpose of our song is, “for Your Name’s sake.” (Sha’ar HaRachamim/Maggid Tzedek)

We sing this paragraph to say to God that although so much of what we have described is still beyond our reach, we continue to sing to glorify Your Name.
