Royal Messages: The Challenge of Greatness

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of good, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” (Isaiah 52:7)

If one dreams of a mountain, he should rise early and say: “How beautiful upon the
mountains are the feet of the messenger of good tidings”, before another verse occurs to him,: “for the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing.” (Jeremiah 9:9)

The mountains serve as a symbol of the potential greatness that God offers us: We can look up and rise to the challenge as in the former verse, or, we can feel small and insignificant as in the latter verse.

Rosh Hashana is when we rejoice in the Coronation of God as King, and celebrate the challenge of greatness offered to all who acknowledge God as King.
