“Not in heaviness of heart and not in pain and not in despondency,” and not in frivolity either does the Jewish spirit find its place. Where pure and thoughtful joy dwells, there it dwells too. Frivolity flees before the earnestness of the Jewish law, and the Divine truth of that law drives away pain and mourning and teaches one to live a serene, happy life on earth.
