Mishlei Prayer Tools: Amidah: The Righteous

“Through the perfidy of the land its officers increase, but through an understanding, knowing man, it will prolong its days (Proverbs 28:2).” When the government of a land is constantly increasing the people in power, we know that the country is being dishonest. Its time is short. However, when a country is led by, “an understanding, knowing, man, it will prolong its days.” The country will last. It has a future.

This is an excellent verse to keep in mind when reciting the blessing of “The Righteous,” in our prayer. We are praying to be led by the righteous, by the, “understanding, knowing man.”
