Pinchas: Imrei Noam
The 8th of Tammuz is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Meir (ben Eliezer) Horowitz of Dzikov (Tarnobrzeg) (1819-1877), author of Imrei Noam, grandson of Rav Naftali, the Ropshitzer Rov. One of his sons, Rav Tuvia Horowitz, was Rav of Majdan. Another son, Rav Aharon Horowitz, married Fradel, a daughter of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz in 1878.
“Harass the Midianites and smite them; for they harassed you through their conspiracy that they conspired against you in the matter of Peor and in the matter of Cozbi, daughter of a leader of Midian, their sister, who was slain on the day of the plague, in the matter of Peor (Numbers 25:17-18).”
One who causes another to sin is worse than one who murders; the latter takes him out of this world, while the former removes him both from this world and the next!
Look at how much attention we must pay to those who are a negative influence! We cannot afford to be kind to them as King David was to Chanon son of Nachash, who responded to David’s kindness by humiliating him. We must live with constant awareness of those who may negatively influence us and fight them. (Imrei Noam)
