Pesukei D’Zimrah: Yehi Chivod: Divrei Binah

“For God chose Jacob as His own, Israel as His treasure (Psalms 135:4).” “For God will not cast off His people, nor will He forsake His heritage (94:14).”

“For God chose Jacob,” because of Jacob’s choice of good, specifically to always live with complete faith in God’s goodness. Jacob, even when he sees terrible things, is willing to shed his human limitations, and to strengthen his belief. It is because of this that God commits, “For God will not cast off His people, nor will He forsake His heritage.” (Divrei Binah – Shelach)

God “chooses” those who are “choosers” of good.
We commit ourselves to serve Him by choice, not rote, and to fortify our faith, before we recite the verse, “For God chose Jacob,” so we can merit, “For God will not cast off His people.”
