Pesukei d’Zimrah-Slonim-Leading the Orchestra

The 28th of Adar is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Mordechai Kastelanitz of Lecovitz, the father of the Slonim Chassidic dynasty, immigrated to Chevron in 1844. We read, “And it came to pass when the minstrel played, that the hand of God came upon him (II Kings 3:15).” The musician, the leader of the orchestra of community affairs, should be as unselfish and unprejudiced as music, as the melody which is pleasing to all. Then, will God’s inspiration come to him to assist his efforts and to achieve every desirable and harmonious end. (Ohr Yesharim, page 15)
