Rabbi Leib of Ger was about to leave the city on a train. A Chassid in the farewell group invited the Rabbi to say something to him which he might cherish in his memory during the Rabbi’s absence. Rabbi Leib said to him, “Behold the locomotive of this train! Its power lies in its ability to hold its steam in check until desired. Therein also resides the power of a Rabbi. He likewise should be able to hold back his words until until a suitable moment (Siach Sarfei Kodesh, Volume II, 59)
