Nine Days-Loving Others – 1

One cannot act appropriately with others if he is lacking in his Trust in God: “Do not say, ‘I will pay retribution for evil.’ Trust in God and He will help you.” Bitachon, or Trust, plays a major role in loving others.

A pious man once said, “I marvel that, when a person gives to another something that the Creator had decreed for the latter, the giver should remind the receiver of his benevolence and expect gratitude from him for it. Still more do I marvel that, when a person obtains his livelihood from another, who has been appointed to give it to him, the former should have to be subservient to the latter, please him and praise him.”
