Lechem Mishneh: Back To The Beginning III

A Study of Manna III: “God said to Moses, Behold! I shall rain down for you food from heaven; let the people go out and pick each day’s portion on its day, so that I can test them, whether they will follow My Teaching or not. And it shall be that on the sixth day when they prepare what they will bring, it will be double what they pick every day.” (Exodus 16:4-5)

“Let the people go out,” certainly sounds very similar to “let My people go.”

The portion begins with Beshalach, when the nation was sent out of Egypt, they were not yet “going” on their own. The Manna seems to nurture and demand that the people “go,” that they be free.

The Manna was an important step in their becoming truly free. The Lechem Mishneh too, must in some way address our ability to become free.
