Lamentations: Third Kinah Stanza 3 Line 4

“She was forced to drink bitter waters and her belly was bloated.” This is an obvious reference to the waters of Sotah, an adulterous woman.  When the Jews committed the sin of the golden calf, Moshe ground up the idol, mixed it with water and forced the people to drink it, exactly what would be done to a Sotah. Those who sinned died from the mix. Idol worship is considered adultery, as if we were cheating on God.
