Ketav Sofer-Loving God 7

(Deuteronomy 6:25) “And it will be a merit for us if we are careful to perform this entire commandment before God, our Lord, as He commanded us.” The Ketav Sofer reads this verse as “We are careful to perform this commandment with the same love we experienced at the time He commanded us at Sinai.”

We can use each Mitzvah as an opportunity to reconnect to Revelation at Sinai and the intense love that came hand in hand with total clarity.

This is why in the Shema we refer to the commandments “That I command you Today.” We should use each Mitzvah, especially the Shema, to reconnect to Sinai, as a fulfillment of the Mitzvah to love God.
