Hoda’ah: Seder HaYom

Modim immediately follows the blessing of Avodah – our plea for the restoration of the Divine Service in Jerusalem. This is our declaration that even when there is no Temple standing in Jerusalem, there is one part of the Divine Service that is constant and eternal: Hoda’ah.

This blessing is the Divine Service of our times. That is why we join with the Chazan as he recites Modim; this blessing is more than a blessing, it is the highest point of our service.
