The Foundation Stone Haggadah: Go Out and Learn



The usual expression in Talmudic literature is “Ta Shma” – Come and Hear. The Zohar uses “Ta Chazi” – Come and See – to introduce a teaching. The Haggadah uses this unusual expression of “Tzai U’limad” – Go Out and Learn – as part of its lesson in freedom, as if to say, that each of us has the ability to develop our own insights based on the information that will be taught. One of the most magnificent and empowering aspects of our freedom, which comes from Torah, “There is no freedom except for one who toils in Torah,” is our ability to use our creativity and minds to explore and discover new ideas that develop from those taught by the sages
