Haggadah-Using the Contradictions

Reb Simcha Bunim instructed his students (iGrow-Spiritual Tools) to have two pockets. In one he should have a slip of paper which reads, “For my sake the world was created.” In the other, he should have a paper which reads, “I am dust and ashes.”

There are times he should take out one slip and times he should take out the other. The wise will know when.

We can use the contradictory symbols of the Seder, those that remind us of our suffering and penury, and those that remind us of our freedom and abundance, as these two “slips of paper.”

iRejoice-Festival Prayers: Even as we celebrate the joy of the holiday we add, “But because of our sins we have been exiled from our land and send far from our soil.”
