After the Exodus, the Jews enter an entirely spiritual existence. God feeds them, they live at the base of Mt. Sinai, and they perfect themselves until they are equal to Adam and Eve before the sin. As they are to accept the Torah, they are at 50%, and they can now fix their sin. But as we know, they chose the Golden Calf, and had to start the process all over again.

The Zohar refers to the Torah as layers of clothing. When you remove one layer, you will find another layer. The ‘clothing’ has to be placed on it because the Torah is infinite, and entirely spiritual. Otherwise, we couldn’t relate to it at all. Whatever you read in the Torah can be understood on many different levels. For example, in the same way that the Jews were redeemed from bondage in Egypt, the soul is freed from the body. For the same reason, the splitting of the Red Sea can also be understood as leaving the womb.
