Haggadah-Rasha-Even When Doing “Good”

Rabbi Bunam’s teaching of rationalism and learning prompted many of his adherents to ridicule the opposite qualities among the adherents of other tzaddikim. A Chassid of the Apter received from his teacher a snow white silk gartel as a charm against recurring misfortunes. His neighbor, a disciple of Rabbi Bunam, in ridicule of the charm, dyed it black, thereby destroying its virtue, according to believers. (Meir Einei haGolah)


We tend to think of the Rasha, the Wicked Child, as the one who ridicules what we do because he does not believe. However, there are those who ridicule what we do because they feel they are more righteous. Who is the bigger Rasha?
