We read, “Put off your shoes from off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground (Exodus 3:5).” The Chafetz Chaim taught that every person needs to attain a higher position in the realm of goodness. Do not say, “I can uplift myself only under different circumstances.” No, the place where you stand is holy ground, namely, available for moral uplift. It is necessary only to shed your uncleanliness, and to strive to ascend to holier  ground.
