Haggadah: Alshich HaKadosh: The Power of Faith

The 13th of Nisan is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Moshe ben Chaim Alshich (1508-1593). Perhaps you will say that the exile has been so long that it is impossible for us to hope for redemption. Do not be so concerned. For, on the contrary, the length of the exile will bring you the merit of faith; the faith that survives despite the length of this long exile.

There was a pearl in the mouths of our Sages that it was in the merit of our faith in redemption that God took us out of Egypt.

Even greater than the merit of Torah, even greater than the merit of fear of God, is the merit of our faith that redemption will come. It is this faith that we celebrate on the Seder night. (Alshich: Isaiah 33)
