Shabbat Prayers: Friday Night: Work to be Done

The 4th of Nisan is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Yaakov Tzvi Mecklenberg, author of HaKesav Vehakabala and Iyun Tefillah (1785-1865). “Because on it He had abstained from all His work which the Lord created to make.” “Created to make,” meaning that which will be made. For although all was created during the six days of creation, nevertheless it was in potential alone, however in an expression of that potential, the Holy One, Blessed is He, renews each day creation and brings each thing into its proper expression at the proper time.

We are part of an ongoing expression of creation. The Shabbat allows us to access our lives as if they are part of this six days of creation, and therefore be far more empowered and creative. (Iyun Tefillah)
