Tisha b’Av-Fasting For the Eternal

The Koretzer taught, “All Israel shall have a share in the World to Come, but not an equal share. We are commanded to fast on Yom Kippur and Tisha b’Av as a symbol of reminder that the pleasures of the World to Come do not include either food or drink. (Nofet Tzufim, page 21)

Our fasting on Tisha b’Av not only reminds us of the pleasures of the World to Come, it expands our portion by reminding us that despite our losing so much we continue to strive to attach to God in eternal ways.
