Chanukah- Modim – As a Father to His Daughter

“Even as father treats his beloved daughter, hugging, caressing her, and giving her presents, ‘Ear has not heard, nor eye seen, what He does to him who waits for Him (Isaiah 64:3),’ as that ‘daughter,’ the soul, has done her work in this world, so will the Holy One ‘do’ His work for her in the world to come (Zohar II 97a)

We are thanking God for the good He provides in this world, and even more so for the good He will do for our souls in the World to Come.
