Bo: Zohar HaKodesh: Mitzvah 20 – Concepts 415

“You shall not break a bone in it.” (Exodus 12:46) We are prohibited from breaking any of the bones of the Pesach Offering. (Rambam, Hilchot Korban Pesach)

The Children of Israel did not break any of the bones, but the Egyptian dogs grabbed the bones and chewed on them. The Egyptians worshipped the animal as a god and were already crushed when they saw that we were offering them to our God. However, seeing the dogs chew on the bones of their god, was too much for them, and they buried the bones to protect them. They actually participated in disgracing their god when they buried the bones treating the animal as just that, an animal. (Zohar)

False beliefs inevitably lead to inconsistent behavior!
