Beit Avraham: Metzorah

The 1st of Iyar is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Avraham of Slonim, the Beis Avraham (1889-1933), grandson of the founder of Slonimer Chasidus, the Chesed L’Avraham. “This shall be the Torah of the Metzorah on the day of

his purification.” “Zot,” this equals the Gematria of “Tzom, Kol, and Mamon,” fasting, praying and charity.”

It is possible that a person is charitable, studies Torah, prays and fasts and is still as distant from God as a Metzorah – he is still in the Torah of the Metzorah, ‘Torat Hametzorah.” This can be because his entire service is false and not heartfelt.

He should shatter his arrogance into dust, for the Sages taught (Rosh Hashana 17a) that the wicked will be the ashes under the feet of the righteous in the World to Come. It is far better to be as dust and ashes in this world, than to be so in the next.
