The Aish Kodesh: True Humility

True humility leaves one feeling elevated, never depressed. True humility opens windows of opportunity. If one feels, “I will never be on the level to achieve that,” his humilty is not real. It is destructive and

lacks holiness. One who is humble thrills at the opportunities offered by God and treasures each Mitzvah, prayer and word of Torah.

When a person finishes a prayer or a study session and is excited, but not in awe, he does not possess true humility. However, when a person reflects on his prayers and studies and is in awe and excited to be granted such wonderful moments, he has become the truly humble person. (Eved Lamelech, Noah)
