Adar Joy-Not For Reward

When the great Maggid’s wife pressed her starving child to her chest, the Maggid heaved a rebellious sigh. Immediately a voice from Heaven thundered into his ear, “You have lost your share in the World to Come!”

“It matters not,” said the Maggid joyfully. “The attraction of reward has gone; henceforth I will serve God in true freedom.”
