Midot Hayom: Day 42: Malchut in Yesod Imprimer Envoyer
Écrit par Machberes Avodas Hashem

Midot “Loving People” How should one fulfill this? One should love and not hate people even if they are wicked. Because the people of the Tower of Babel loved each other, God did not wipe them out although they rebelled against God. Instead, He scattered them to the four corners of the world. By Contrast, the Holy One, Blessed is He, annihilated the people of Sodom, in this world and barred them from the World To Come, because they hated each other. Because they hated and robbed each other, the Holy One, Blessed is He, annihilated them in this world and the World to Come. Avot of Rabbi Nathan 12:7

The world is more complete when people are unified, even in sin, than when people hate each other, even if they are striving for good. The essence of the world is unity. God, the Foundation/Source of the world, is a Unity, and His existence is better reflected by unity than by vessels shattered by hatred even for those who are evil. When we recognize the need for unity in relationships as a reflection of the Unity of the Creator we will be able to repair any damage to the world, something we cannot do when we break that unity even for what we perceive to be good reasons.
