Midot Hayom: Day 47: Hod in Malchut Imprimer Envoyer

Midot “And hatred of other people puts a man out of this world.” One should not say: “Love the Sages but hate the disciples,” or, “Love the Sages but hate the ignorant.” On the contrary, love everyone, only hating the heretics, those who entice others to go astray, those who worship other gods, and informers, as David said, For those who hate You, O God, I hate, and I quarrel with those who rise up against You. With the utmost hatred I hate them; they have become enemies to me.” (Psalms 139:21-22) It says, “You must love your neighbor as you love yourself, I am God.” “Vayikra 19:18) teaching that if one acts as a Jew you must love him, but if he does not, you should not love him. Avot of Rabbi Nathan 16:5

Anyone who is connected to the whole, who acts as a Jew, has enough inner beauty for us to love him. Only those who break away from the whole, who sever their links to God, are deserving of hatred.
