Amidah: Mahara MiFano: Complete It For Me Print E-mail
Written by Machberes Avodas Hashem

AmidahWhat is not in my power to accomplish, like a commandment or a prayer that I am not doing with the appropriate perfection, I ask "May God complete it on my behalf" (Psalms 138:8).

(Ramah of Fano)

Sometimes, when we draw near the end of our prayer, we get the unsettling feeling that our focus and intent were lacking; that we could have invested our prayer with so much more meaning, with so much more fervor, with so much more of ourselves.

The words are sliding by, and we get frustrated: I am about to take the three steps back, how do I empower my prayer at this point? How do I make it soar?

As we whisper the words: "May the expressions of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart find favor before You, God, my Rock and my Redeemer", we can close our eyes and pray: "Hashem, Yigmor Ba'adi", "God, You will complete it for me"; You take my imperfect words and give them wings so that they can fly, pierce the Heavens and reach Your Throne of Glory.
