Royal Messages: A Living Relationship Print E-mail

MalchuyotWe find only three names that are composed of the Hebrew word for “king”, Melech. These are Malchiel (Genesis 46:17, Numbers 26:25, and I Chronicles 7:31) meaning “Eil is my King”, given to a grandson of Asher; Abimelech (Judges 8:31) meaning “The Divine King is my father”, and Elimelech (Ruth 1:2) meaning “My God is King”.

All three belong to persons who lived prior to the founding of the monarchy in Israel. Each describes a personal expression of relating to God as king.  We must remember during these days when we celebrate the coronation of God as King, that we maintain a personal relationship with the King despite His being the King of the Universe.
