Chanukah“Light becomes darkness in his tent; his candle will flicker out in his presence.” (Job 18:6) Rav Saadiah Gaon explains that this verse, part of Bildad’s reflections on Job’s suffering and what are the consequences of such anger, describes how a person’s anger will consume his ability to accomplish. The energy that would have fueled his candle; potential, is burned up by his anger, and he will watch his hopes and plans flicker and fade.

ToolsApplication:
This is a good time to reflect on one’s anger.
Spend time before Chanukah reviewing situations in which you lost your temper.
Consider how you could have dealt with the situation in a more productive, or Candle, manner, than with anger, destructively burning potential.
