destruction“They that trust in God shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abides forever. Jerusalem is surrounded by mountains, and God surrounds His nation, from now and forever.” (Psalms 125:1-2)

Jerusalem, even without man-made walls, appears to be an impregnable stronghold, for it is surrounded by protective mountains, which afford a tremendous strategic advantage.

Nevertheless, the Psalmist cautions the people that the city is defenseless unless God Himself wishes to guard it. Only when, “God enwraps His nation,” are the people truly secure. (Radak)

ToolsApplication:
We must use this day to evaluate whether our confidence in Jerusalem’s security is based on anything other than an appreciation that “God enwraps His nation.”
