Shir Hashirim-Slonim-Companionship With God Print E-mail
Written by Machberes Avodas Hashem

Song-of-Songs-Shir-HashirimThe 28th of Adar is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Mordechai Kastelanitz of Lecovitz, the father of the Slonim Chassidic dynasty. “I rose up to open to my beloved (Song of Songs 5:5).” This means, “I am endeavoring to admit God into my heart; all my deeds serve only as an effort good to open my companionship to the Most High.”

The verse continues, “My hands drop with myrrh,” “then I please Him by knowing how little value my actions have. But when I believe that, ' I have opened to my beloved indeed,' that by my conduct, I deserve communion with Him, then ' my beloved had turned away and was gone' (Ohr Yesharim, page 91).”
