Kedushat Yom Tov: Bo Print E-mail

ParshaThe 5th of Shevat is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Shlomo Zalman Friedman, Rachover Rav (1980). He was mechaber of Kedushas Yom Tov and a follower of the Rebbe of Sziget. He survived the Holocaust after experiencing the horrors of the death camps of Auschwitz. After the war he settled in Satmar. In 1947, he left Romania and settled in Logano in Switzerland where he served as Chief Rabbi and Av Beis Din. His last years were spent in the home of his son-in-law, Rav Menahem Mendel Horowitz, in Bnei Brak.

“With our children and our elders we will go.” Even in one’s old age he should not give up hope, for even then he has the ability to repair the sins of his youth.

“The stranger,” is a person who has become a stranger to his Father in Heaven. (Rashi)  When one becomes a stranger to God he becomes a stranger to those who raised him in the ways of Torah as well.
