Mavo HaMishna: Three Crowns Print E-mail

Building BlocksThe Sixth of Kislev is the Yahrtzeit of Rabbi Yaakov Brill, author of Mavo HaMishna. He died on November 29, 1889: Torah, Service of God, and the well-being of the community, even with Israel being a “Kingdom of Priests” firmly bound to God with a triple wrapped cord that will not fray or unravel, means that we all have different strength and paths. Each of us must search for his or her path, strengths and attributes in order to achieve a life of attachment to God.

There have often been groups of people who have successfully led us in our generations, with one person acknowledged as leader.

The three crowns; Torah, Kehuna and Kingship, reflect different approaches to finding our path in serving God.

The Kohen leads the service of God. The king cares for the well-being and defense of the community. However, all must be directed by the crown of Torah, for there is no other way. (Introduction to Mavo HaMishna)
