Sh’eirit Yisrael: Being In Israel Print E-mail

IsraelThe 17th of Adar is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Yisrael Ze’ev (ben Moshe Tzvi) Mintzberg (Minzberg), Av Beis Din of K'hal Chassidim (or K’hal Masmidim) in Yerushalayim (1962). He was the author of ShU’T Shearis Yisroel.

Rav Mintzberg only left Israel twice, both times in order to meet with great Rabbis in Galicia. He felt that once a person was in Israel, they were not permitted to leave a place of such holiness without an extraordinary reason. He celebrated every minute that he lived in Israel as a special opportunity to become closer to God. (From His Life Story printed at beginning of the book.)
